Fabien CHOURAKI,

Musician atypical? unclassifiable? Fabien CHOURAKI is primarily an adventurer unexplored land. After classical studies at the conservatory (a pupil of John LEDIEU, Fabrizio Moretti, Jean Michel GOURY), he obtained the 1st prize unanimously Conservatoire National de Region de Paris, and the 1st prize of the Conservatoire National de Region de Boulogne Billancourt . Continuing his training, he has won several competitions for saxophone and chamber music (Bellan, ufam, Friendship musicians Henry SAUGUET).

Meanwhile, he began studying at university and obtained a Master of musicologie.Sa career began in 1994 with the release of his 1st album "Tribute to Adolphe Sax, in which we can hear for the first time, first works written in the 19th century for saxophones. Fruit of musicological research, they have been published by Editions Lemoine.
Continuing his journey of exploration of the repertoire he recorded a second album "Tales", including original pages and sublime written for saxophone, Claude Debussy, Florent Schmitt, Andre Caplet, Vincent d'Indy. Hailed by critics, this recording reveals the existence of a genuine repertory for the instrument, before the emergence of jazz.
